in february 2019 i came back to venice with new eyes and thoughts. these pieces are little postcards that i gave to the people i have met this time. on the picture of an artwork that connects us all, nannuci’s light sculpture, i wanted to draw their portraits with a needle and thread. changing is the key word of this piece, and changing is what i aim to accomplish through my craft of sewing. i am drawing a line that already exists between us, and in doing so the connection becomes a stronger thread that can stretch from venice throughout the world. i gave them these artworks the day we said goodbye so they could take me with them back to the place they came from. i would have never thought a future for the artworks in which this line could come back to venice for a chance called ‘libertà.’ as if the people were coming back to venice, our floating city.

from thread to thread; from side to side; from cable to tail; from beginning to end; completely. the passage of time, the flow of water, the change of seasons. a balance. embracing and appeasing the wide laugh and the lump in the throat; the certainty of the following day with the uncertainty of the expected response; the enthusiasm of the moment of arrival and the longing for departure. accommodating. letting the dexterity of the gestures remain, the honesty of the words, the tenderness of the hugs, the desire to go further. starting a new project, in a new year, always with the same desire to use the lines and create.
